Recommended Gardens - Scotland

The gardens in these lists have all been personally recommended by members of the Rhododendron, Camellia and Magnolia Group. They range from large historically important collections at the estates of those who funded the plant hunters who discovered them, down to collections of more recent enthusiasts. Most are open either all year round, or during the flowering season for the relevant genera. Some, however, are either open occasionally, for example under the National Garden Scheme in the UK, or by appointment only: these are identified in the lists. Most gardens will offer guided tours by prior arrangement. Many of the gardens are either owned by members, or the gardens (or a significant employee) themselves are members. These are identified with a * in the lists.
